Welcome!
Mallorca is renowned as a road cycling paradise for all levels due to its ideal combination of natural terrain; smooooth road surfaces; climate; infrastructure; cycling support services and scenic routes.
Our info ensures your next visit is the best it can be.
Natural Terrain
Mallorca has diverse terrain, perfect for cycling. From the rolling central areas to the undulating coastal region to the Sierra de Tramunatana mountains there is something for everyone.
Smooth Road Surfaces
Cyclist Friendly Climate
Year round riding is possible: With around 300 days of sunshine, Mallorca has mild winters and warm springs and autumns, which allows for cycling almost year-round. During the hot summers early starts are required.
Popular Training Seasons: Spring (March to May) and autumn (mid September to end October) are especially popular, as temperatures are ideal for riding without the summer heat.
With so many locals being cyclists, the roads are also fully enjoyed during what passes as the Mallorcan winter.
Infrastructure
Mallorca has been looking after holidaymakers since the late 1950s and as such has an infrastructure well suited to its biggest industry.
The airport is modern and efficient, the hotels are modern and plentiful. The houses and apartments for holidaymakers are widespread and cater to all budgets. The road network is well maintained. Public transport (mainly buses) works well for locals and tourists. There are many restaurants and cafes specialising in both local and international dishes.
Everything works, and works well!
Cycling Support Services
Bike-Friendly Amenities: Numerous bike shops, repair stations, and bike rental services cater to both amateurs and professional cyclists. Many hotels on the island also offer bike storage, massages, laundry, repair stations, and cyclist-friendly meal options.
Mallorca has a deep and long standing cycling culture. As a cyclist you will feel noticed and appreciated.
Diverse and Scenic Routes
Mallorca offers a unique mix of flat coastal roads, rolling countryside, and challenging mountain climbs.
This variety lets cyclists customize routes based on skill and fitness level and training needs.
The island is known for its breathtaking landscapes, including the Tramuntana mountain range (a UNESCO World Heritage site), Mediterranean sea views, lush valleys, and charming villages dotted around the coast as well as inland.
Local Cycling Culture
Mallorcans have been enjoying their island by bike soon after the last dinosaur perished! (ok, maybe not quite that far back, but close).
This long standing cycling culture is felt by visitors from the respect shown by local drivers through to the understanding and support shown before, during and after rides.
Lets ensure we show equal respect back to the locals whilst they go about their daily business.
The local culture embraces cycling, making it welcoming for cyclists who might otherwise be cautious about sharing roads.
Together, these elements make Mallorca not just a training ground for pros but a beloved destination for cyclists of all levels, blending physical challenge with Mediterranean beauty, wonderful people and tasty food and all supported with a infrastructure of services that are the envy of other destinations.
Accessibility and Convenience
Mallorca is very well-connected to Europe, both via sea and air, making it easy for cyclists to travel.
Flights from Europe are only a couple of hours and the fast ferries are very convenient.
The main airport in Palma now also has weekly direct flights from as far afield as New York.
Professional Training Hub
Many professional teams choose Mallorca for pre-season training camps due to the island’s diversity in terrain, quality infrastructure, and optimal climate.
Seeing pros on the road is very common!
Events and Tours: Events like the Mallorca 312 (offering routes of 167, 225 and 312km), one of Europe’s best endurance rides, and numerous organized cycling tours add to the island’s allure for road cycling enthusiasts.
Local cycling clubs run events all year round for most levels of cyclist.
